About Us

Welcome to the YR Class website!

A quick note about our “license plate” logo:
The class was originally formed in March of 1992, during the early years of the personalized license plate craze.   So they attempted to utilize that idea for the class logo - but naming a class using only seven characters was pretty tough!   Eventually (no one will actually admit how long it took them) it was decided that, since each member considered this their class, the “YR” would stand as an abbreviation for the word “your” - hence signifying that this is “your class.”   We’re pretty sure it seemed a lot cooler then than it does now.

But those of us that have followed in the wake of this stunning marketing ploy take a certain twisted pleasure in watching the faces of those who wander into our classroom and attempt to make sense of it.   And although it has created its share of awkward moments, we have learned to push past that awkwardness and revel in the comic relief it supplies.

So, who are we you ask?

The YR Class is made up of about 45 people, both married and single, ages 40 and up.  Our members are an eclectic mix of ethnic, denominational, and socio-economic backgrounds, and very active within the Lay leadership here at PazNaz - participating on the Church Board, Church in the Park, Sunrise Choir, Praise Band, Technical crew, Bus Ministry, Academy of Arts, Student ministries, Early Childhood ministries, Children’s ministries, Women’s ministry, Men's ministry and Athletic ministries.

We value the open discussion of scripture and how it applies to our daily lives and therefore classes are "facilitated" more than they are taught.  We pray for each other, we laugh with each other, and we encourage each other.  Sunday school sessions are led on a rotating basis by several of our members, so we may study a Book of the Bible for a few months and then find ourselves discussing a “topical” book or subject for several months after that.

We invite you to join us some Sunday morning and experience us for yourself.
We're located in room 113, which is on the lower level (underneath the Sanctuary), near the elevator - actually, we're directly across from the ladies restroom, but we don't really view that as much of a marketing tool.
